About SCAC

Our Founding: Morris Township’s Senior Citizen Advisory Committee (SCAC) was established by Ordinance 25-21 in October 2021. SCAC held its first meeting on April 11, 2022.

Our Purpose: SCAC is an advisory committee whose purpose is to explore the needs of Morris Township seniors and recommend ways to address those needs in such areas as housing, transportation, medical/health, and social/recreational/educational activities.

Our Work : SCAC began its work by planning ways to gather input from residents. In 2022, we developed a Needs Survey which was distributed widely in our community in the early months of 2023. CLICK HERE to see the results. In addition, we are planning a Focus Group session to be held on October 10, 2023.

Another important aspect of SCAC’s work has been research and information gathering. We have explored information from a variety of sources including:

  • In-house resources offered by our own Health Department, Parks and Recreation Department, and Seniors Club
  • Activities, approaches, and websites of other towns
  • Government resources – county, state, federal
  • University resources
  • Other organizations and community resources

A major finding of our research is the discovery that many resources of interest to senior exist already – but that much of what is “out there” is not widely known. A major goal of this website is to fill that gap by bringing together in one location a range of existing resourcs that seniors would find useful-if only they were easier to find.

Our Future: SCAC’s work is just beginning. Exciting future possibilities abound. Creative ideas are welcome.
