Garbage is picked up weekly. See the street list schedule for your collection day.
Receptacles shall be placed at the curb beginning at dusk of the night preceding the scheduled collection day.
Receptacles shall be removed from the curb by 6 p.m.of the evening of collection day.
Receptacles shall be placed at curbside no later than 6 a.m.of the scheduled day. From Memorial Day to Labor Day receptacles shall be placed at curbside no later than 5:30 a.m.
Six items per household is the limit, please call 973-326-7398 for large or extra items.
Wrap large glass doors with cardboard and tape.
Mattresses and Box Springs must be wrapped in plastic prior to placing out for disposal.
Rugs should be cut, rolled, and tied in a roll not exceeding 50 pounds. If you are moving, please notify us well in advance.
Items should not be more than 4 feet in length.
Standard 32 gallon garbage cans only with lids / handles or plastic bags, with a 50 pound limit per container, is accepted. Examples of conforming and non-conforming receptacles are available online.
Latex paint must be dried out in cans before disposal; cat litter works well.
Animal feces should be placed in paper bags before being put in the garbage.
All garbage must be placed out at the curb for collection on your day. Garbage will not be accepted at the Department of Public Works yard on Jane Way.
Things to Know for Phase 1 of the Automated Trash Collection
