The Open Space Committee has seven members and two alternate members appointed by the Mayor.

About the Board
The Open Space Committee makes recommendations to the Township Committee for the purchase or preservation of properties. They make recommendations for the Township to acquire the development rights and those parcels which may be suitable for preservation through Township funding, in whole or in partnership with others such as the County Park Commission, but for which title may be held in the name of another public or other appropriate nonprofit entity. The Open Space Committee is empowered to recommend the following:
- Acquisition of lands for recreation, conservation and open space purposes;
- The improvement, for recreation, conservation and open space purposes
- Acquisition of farmland for farmland preservation purposes.
Regular meetings are opened to the public.
