1. How do I get updates from the Police about emergency information?

Nixle, In order to receive Nixle alerts you must go to the website www.nixle.com and sign up for free. Then you must search Morris Township Police Department. Morris Township consists of multiple zip codes therefore in order to get important information from our police department you must sign up for notifications by adding the Morris Township Police Department manually.

2. How do I report a crime?: Contact our crime prevention officer at 973-326-7450. If you are trying to report an emergency please dial 9-1-1.

3. How can I get a copy of a crash report?: If you need a copy of a crash report you may obtain a copy from the Records Bureau. Reports are usually completed SEVEN (7) days after the date of the crash. Please call the Records Bureau at (973) 326-7473 before you respond to headquarters to confirm that your report is complete. There is a charge for the crash report.
You may also access your crash report via the internet. Please visit http://www.crashdocs.org/nj-morristownship and note there is also a charge for this service. While accessing the website simply enter your last name, date of the crash, and the incident report number.

4. How can I get a copy of a police report?: In order to obtain a copy of a police report you need to respond to Morris Township Police Headquarters and speak with personnel within our Records Bureau. They will have specific directions in order to get a copy of a report. We cannot fax or mail a copy of any report and there is a fee for all copies made. Please call the Records Bureau at (973) 326-7473 if you have any further questions. The office is open from 8 am til 4 pm Monday through Friday except on federal holidays.

11. How can I pay a motor vehicle summons I received?: How can I pay a motor vehicle summons I received? If you received a traffic summons you must read the back of the summons. This will explain your rights and responsibilities in detail. A summons issued for a motor vehicle crash with an injury will require a court appearance. You must contact the court at least seven days before the notice to appear date on the front of the summons, if you intend to plead not guilty. You have a right to issue a summons to the other driver within 30 days of the crash. The Joint Municipal Court may be contacted at 973-593-3026. As soon as possible, notify your insurance company that you were involved in a crash. Your insurance company will advise you how to file a claim if necessary.
