Smoke Detectors

Purpose

The Smoke Alarm program provides detectors free of charge to vulnerable residents such as our senior citizens on fixed incomes, low-income residents, and households with children.  The Fire Department will also install these detectors free of charge.

This program is provided through the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety and our Firemen's Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) Local #70.

Please also check out our Emergency Evacuation Assistance Program.  These programs help us with our commitment to the safety of all our community members.

Inspection and Installation of Devices

The Fire Department will provide a free consultation for detector placement in Township residences. Residents who have purchased a detector can request for us to assist in installing it.  These services are provided seven days a week, during day and evening hours free of charge.

Please call the Fire Department nonemergency line at 973-326-7435 to schedule.

Please remember for Emergency Assistance call 9-1-1.

Please Note: This program is not available for change of occupancy or for the sale of homes.
